Aquatic Instruction

Instructing swimming, water safety and lifesaving programs to children is an enjoyable and rewarding career. Royal Life Saving in Western Australia can assist you develop the skills required to succeed in your chosen area.
You can also obtain the AUSTSWIM - teacher of swimming and water safety certificate.

Community Recreation qualifications
National Training Packages are a key feature of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia. They are an essential part of a National Training Framework that aims to make make training simpler, flexible and more relevant to the needs of industry. These nationally recognised qualifications reflect the skills and knowledge that are required for working in the recreation industry.

Lifesaving
Central to the beliefs of Royal Life Saving is the safeguarding of human life. We believe that all Australians should be encouraged to learn essential lifesaving skills.
The best aquatic rescue must always be a safe one. Aquatic rescue techniques must not only be effective, they must not expose the rescuer to danger. The learning of lifesaving should focus on the development of essential skills accompanied by judgement and initiative.
Our affordable lifesaving training programs compliment our many other community activities that are responsible for preventing drowning and injury in water-related activities.

Recreational Boating
Western Australia's 12,500 kilometre coastline is the most extensive and isolated in Australia. We have 72,000 registered vessels and an estimated quarter of a million people enjoying our aquatic resources. Unfortunately each year too many Western Australian's are killed, injured or required rescuing while participating in recreational boating. During 2005, in Western Australia six lives were lost and just under 1,300 marine search and rescues were undertaken as a result of boating incidents.
Whether you’re into fishing, sailing, diving, cruising or just having fun in your boat, this site will provide some information on the different types of training courses offered by Royal Life Saving, including the Recreational Skipper's Ticket. Training can be conducted in Perth, Fremantle and other areas of Western Australia.

Traineeships

Thinking about a career?
Think about a traineeship in the Sport and Recreation Industry. Traineeships mean flexible training, experience and a nationally recognised qualification that is recognised by employers throughout Australia. You will gain valuable skills and experience to kick-start your career. By completing a traineeship you will have access to further education and training and it is a great way to get a head start in the sport and recreation industry.
